Super Tuesday

Hello All. This is a crazy picture I found on the net, somewhat describing how this year will be come autumn. Right now, it's just the Elephants fighting Elephants and the Donkeys doing the same. If you have not been following the news, at all, then you may not be aware of how important this day is in picking the candidate that will get their respective party's ticket for the big fight scheduled for later this year. Today is called "Super Tuesday" because the Super Bowl just happened (hence the 'Super') and because it's Tuesday. Go figure. To make a long story short, a candidate must gather the majority of delegate votes from different states to be the "Chosen One" for that party. Democrats fight each other for the Democrat delegates; Republicans duke it out for the Republican delegates. Each state has some varied number of Republican/Democrat delegates. Since the whole delegate winning process is unnecessarily complicated and confusing in most cases, I won't go into too much detail. So here is my version: Candidate 'C' advertises, bashes, and beats stumps around State 'X'. Candidate 'O' does the same, in State 'X', competing all the while with Candidate 'C', since they are both from Party 'D'. Meanwhile, Candidates 'R', 'M', and 'H' of Party 'R' compete against each other in same State 'X'. State 'X' could be having something called a Primary, or a Caucus, which are obviously different but Blogger 'B' is confused and doesn't want to research why they torment him so. To the best of afforementioned Blogger's knowledge, Party 'D' states will split delegates among Candidates 'O' and 'C' depending on the percentage of votes they receive in the different areas of State 'X.' Party 'R' does the same in many states, though some states are "Winner Take All" for some reason, so Candidates 'R', 'M', and 'H' just need the overall highest percentage in that state to win all delegates. Don't ask Blogger 'B' why there needs to be more than one way of winning delegates. For Candidates of Party 'R', 1,191 delegates is the winning number for either Candidate 'R', 'M', or 'H' to win Party 'R' s presidential ticket for that Candidate to run against the Candidate winner from Party 'D' in the fall (who will need 2,025 delegates to win that Party 'D' ticket.)

So, back to why today is such a big deal. Nearly 4/5 of those delegates necessary to win the Democratic Party ticket are at stake today, as well as more than 1,000 delegates up for grabs for the Republicans. Some 20+ states will be voting today, including Utah. So, get out there and vote. It's fun, and since none of the rest of you live in Florida, you should have no problems with hanging/dimpled chads. No recounts this time, okay buddies? I mean, come on. How hard can voting be? Checking your E-Mail is more complicated than electronic voting. Oh, and just so it's clear - Yes, that is goofy watermark on that photo of the elephant and donkey boxing. It means that some clown put that on his picture, intentionally, and then posted it on the web as to make people like me less likely to use it. I thank him for the picture anyway. Oh, and just in case you were wondering...when I used the name 'State X' I was in no way alluding to any state that exists in reality, just an example. I do not support one state over another or feel one is better than another. So, since this blog is unbiased, I can say stuff like "Go Candidate 'R'!" Have a good day, blog fans. Keep in mind that the guy who wins this whole thing and also beats the other party this fall, will be chosen to carry a certain ring to a completely random location like...say...a volcano or something, for the ring to be destroyed there. Hey, that would make a great movie. I'll get back with more on that sometime.
